Alex Hurst

Officer Hurst succumbed a gunshot wound sustained one year earlier. He was shot in the head with his own weapon during a scuffle with a man he had stopped for running a red light.

The 46-year-old suspect was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life. He later died in prison.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 55th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know that both their pain and pride are forever. I pray for your family's embrace. Thanks to his family and friends for sharing their memories and devotion through their devotion.
