Mart Hudson, Jr.

Trooper Mart Hudson was struck and killed by a drunk driver while assisting a disabled motorist on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge near the Maryland - Virginia state line.

He was setting out flares behind the disabled vehicle when he was struck. The 17-year-old suspect, who fled, was arrested by Virginia officers minutes later. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and DWI.

Trooper Hudson had served with the Maryland State Police for nine months. He was survived by his mother, stepfather, and fiancee.
