Auxiliary Trooper Phillip Mingione was killed after being struck by a vehicle as he retrieved his raincoat from his patrol while parked in the median of I-91, near Route 40 in North Haven.

A vehicle traveling on the highway was struck by a hit-and-run driver. The impact caused the vehicle to go off the highway and strike Auxiliary Trooper Mingione.

Auxiliary Trooper Mingione was survived by his wife and two sons.
