Webb Sellman Hersperger

Patrolman Webb Hersperger was killed when his police motorcycle was struck by a vehicle that crossed the center line of Poolesville Road, between Darnestown and Quince Orchard.

He was en route to police headquarters in Rockville when the crash occurred. The driver of the other vehicle was charged with reckless driving and manslaughter.

Patrolman Hersperger had served with the Montgomery County Police Department for three years. He was survived by his wife, infant son, father, and two sisters.
