In my high school years, 1971-1974, at St. Peter's Central Catholic HS and playing on the football team I never knew much about the Hazelhurst trophy award. The Hazelhurst trophy was given to the most valuable played in the thanksgiving day game between St. Peter and St. John. This annual game was played for many years on Holy Crosses Fitton field. Little did I know that years later I would meet and work with two of Officer Hazelhurst's sons, Kerry and Robert Jr. As a civilian, I was honored to work with both these officers.
