Special Officer Albert Hayes was killed in an automobile accident at the intersection of Dwight Street and Faille Avenue, in Holyoke.

Another car struck his patrol car head-on while he was driving. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officer Hayes had served with the Massachusetts State Police for 12 years and was assigned to Troop B.

Today, February 9th, the Massachusetts State Police takes a moment to honor and remember Corporal Albert T. Hayes on this his 80th anniversary. May he continue to rest in peace knowing that his memory, sacrifice and family have not been forgotten.
Corporal Hayes was killed in an automobile crash when his patrol vehicle was struck head-on as he drove down Dwight Street in Holyoke. A twelve-year veteran and 33 years old, Corporal Hayes was a member of the 20th RTT (1928) assigned to B Troop. He leaves behind his wife and parents. Prepared and submitted by Tpr. Thomas E.
