Officer Harrison was my Uncle Harold. It's hard to believe that 44 years have passed since that Friday night when we found out you had gone to be with the Lord.

I was only seven years old at the time, but can vividly remember being with my family and receiving the heartbreaking, life-changing news. I still remember the many CHP officers who came to the funeral home with tears in their eyes and the mass of people who showed up to honor your life at your funeral. I'll never forget the long funeral procession with cars lined up for what seemed like miles.

You were everything that is right about our world! You showed in death how you lived; sacrificing all.

Today, I remember your sacrifice 44 years ago, with tears streaming down my face, grateful for the 26 years God gave you on this earth; wishing this day had never happened.

Robert Harold Harrison, Jr., THANK YOU for serving the people of California and this nation! I miss you, my uncle!
