George Grossberger

Patrolman George Grossberger suffered a fatal heart attack after being assaulted by a prisoner in the 108th Precinct station house.

Patrolman Grossberg was in the precinct holding cell area attending to a prisoner who had been arrested for failing to pay his taxicab fair. The prisoner attacked Patrolman Grossberger. Patrolman Grossberger called for assistance, and another Patrolman helped restrain the prisoner.

Patrolman Grossberg was taken to St. John Hospital, where he died from a heart attack.

Patrolman Grossberger had served with the New York City Police Department for 19 years. He was survived by his wife and two daughters.
