Officer Goode was shot and killed while questioning three suspicious men. During the questioning one of the men pulled out a handgun and opened fire, mortally wounding the officer. Officer Goode was able to return fire and wounded one of the suspects. Officer Goode was taken to a local hospital where he died of his wounds two days later. A week later one suspect was apprehended in Fayette.

Officer Goode had served with the Vicksburg Police Department for 3 months.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 87th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. How nice that your family is able to honor you on this site.
