Octavio Gonzales

Special Agent Octabio Gonzales was shot and killed in his office in Bogota, Colombia, by a hitman from the Colombian Cartel. Special Agent Gonzales was acting as agency's country attache to Colombia.

The suspect committed suicide a short time later.

Special Agent Gonzales had served with the Drug Enforcement Administration for eight years.

Thank you for your outstanding service to this great nation. You bring honor to our profession. I'm not sure there is a more dangerous job--apprehending drug traffickers in a foreign country is always a dangerous mission. I know the former head of the the DEA in Columbia and you and others, like my friend were chasing some of the world's most dangerous criminals. You were no doubt an exceptional agent and father.
