John Richard Goff

Chief John Goff was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance call. As he exited his patrol car the residence the suspect shot him with a .30-.30 rifle. The man was arrested and committed suicide in jail by slitting his wrists.

Chief Goff served as chief of the Ironton Municipal Police Department and had also been sworn in as a deputy of the Iron County Sheriff's Department.

My father, Larry Douglas and my uncles, spoke highly of Mr Goff. My father even played music with him and cut a record. I wasn't born until the year after his murder, but as I was growing up my parents spoke highly of him.
