Hi Grandpa,

I’ve never met you, but it feels like we know each other. I’ve heard a lot about you. I heard how heroic, funny, and smart you were. I heard how you were an amazing father to my incredible mother and an amazing husband to my incredible grandmother. I’ve heard about the sacrifices you made in order to keep many peoples’ lives safe.

I’d like to think you’ve been with me through everything I’ve done in these past 22 years you haven’t been around. I can feel you watching over me and I can feel your pride as you watch me grow.

Your legacy and memory lives on in our family. I display your name and the random tokens I have of yours proudly in my room. Your legacy lives through the humor and love your sons, Brian and Brad, have shown me as a grew up.

I am devastated I did not get to meet the amazing man my family loved so deeply, but I am grateful that same family emulates your best qualities.

I love you.
