Trooper Joseph Gallivan was killed in an automobile crash on Nooseneck Hill Road while responding to a fire in Ashaway.
His vehicle left the roadway during heavy rain and struck a concrete marker at the Hopkinton-Richmond town line.
Trooper Gallivan had served with the Rhode Island State Police for two years. He was survived by his parents, sister, and three brothers.
