My father, born 1905,was 18 when Officer Frueh lost his life. He had shared that story with me several times but, I never knew the details until now. I found information in old newspaper clippings on Internet. I am not sure if the murderer was ever positively id'd. It was believed he was the same person who had killed another police officer and a civilian in or near St. Louis. Clippings available on request.
