Trooper Lund was shot and killed during a high speed pursuit on I-70. He was shot in the face as he attempted to pass the suspect to warn cars in front of the chase. Both juvenile suspects were immediately taken into custody.

Trooper Lund had served with the agency for 7 years. He was survived by his wife and two children.

Just read the article on KSL about Mr. Pearson wanting parole. I served as a LEO for 27 years, am very glad to be out. I had no idea the stress that came with the job until I retired.
I have seen the roadside marker several times and it makes my heart hurt thinking of the families involved. I started my career with Provo PD in 1992 and remember when this occurred. It made me think everytime I left my family to go to work, they may never see me again.
