Patrolman Clare Fletcher was killed in a motorcycle crash at the intersection of 26th Street and Bond Avenue while attempting to stop a speeding vehicle.
He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Patrolman Fletcher had served with the East St. Louis Police Department for two years. He was survived by his wife and son.
