Having personally known Ernie (went to his church) he was my mentor. He once gave me a break for traffic violation. I joined the CHP 10 years before he was murdered and was working in the south part of the state. A terrible shock in quiet Crescent City. I remember exactly when I was notified. A wonderful man with a great family to go along with him. Life is just not fair. That we know. Rest in peace Ernie.
