Andrew W. Farthing

Officer Farthing was beaten to death with his own nightstick by an 18 year old youth when he and three other officers went to the suspects home to break up a teen-age party neighbors were complaining about.

On November 2, 1961, the suspect was acquitted after a jury ruled that he was justified in beating the officer to death because he entered his home without a search warrant.

Dear Uncle, I knew you were with me in spirit when I saved an officers life from being beaten to death. I could feel a presence and your words. I was born after your passing. Your spirit stills lives on. My brother, your nephew, David, named his son after you. Your namesake is an Attorney, as was your brother, my father, he incorporated Lomita California and became the first City Attorney. We will meet someday.

Lisa Farthing
Uncle, My Fathers younger brother.
