James Kevin Farris

Trooper James Farris was killed in an automobile accident during a pursuit on I-70 near Frisco.

During the chase, Trooper Farris' vehicle went out of control and rolled over. Although he was wearing his seat belt, the force of the impact was so severe it caused fatal injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Trooper Farris had served with the Colorado State Patrol for 15 months.

I was with James and his wife as we were out for dinner the evening before this tragic accident. Not only did the State Patrol lose an outstanding Trooper, I lost one of my closest friends. Even though it has been 42 years, I still miss him.
