Trooper Johnny Edrington was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Highway 80, approximately seven miles west of London, Kentucky.
His body was found in a ditch with a gunshot wound to the head. The shot had been fired with his own service weapon.
The suspects are still at large.
Trooper Edrington had served with the Kentucky State Police for three years. He was survived by his wife and daughter.

View all 48 ReflectionsAll these years later and it's never been solved. I remember when this happened. There was another KSP officer that looked enough like KSP Edrington to make me believe it could've been a case of mistaken identity. The other trooper was a little older, but at a late night traffic stop it could be hard to tell them apart. Prayers for his family and friends.
