Bobby Paul Doherty

Ranger Bobby Doherty was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a narcotics suspect in Argyle, Texas. As Ranger Doherty kicked in the door he was shot in the head and fatally wounded. The suspect was apprehended and sentenced to life. He was released on parole on May 25, 2004.

Ranger Doherty had been with the Department of Public Safety for 20 years and had been a Texas Ranger for 18 months. He was survived by his wife and two children.

Bobby Thank You - remembering what you said has helped me through the hard times in my law enforcement career. Integrity is what you have left when everything else turns bad. A man does not need a reason to choose to do the right thing. Doing the right thing is a personal choice every day a choice not to allow hurt hate or evil to win, a choice based on personal character because it is the right thing to do.
