Policeman George Dingwall and Policeman John Knox were shot and killed in a shootout with a maniac who had shot up the Philadelphia Rapid Transit power shops at 13th and Mt. Vernon streets, then emptied two pistols at his pursuers before being clubbed unconscious by a motorcycle policeman.

The suspect shot and killed another man, wounded five more, two seriously, who pursued him.

Policeman Dingwall was a nine-year veteran.

On today, the 99th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you to you and your fellow Officer who was also killed in that incident for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of of Philadelphia.
