Patrolman Hubert Dillon, squad leader assigned to the Maxwell Street Station, was shot to death when he interrupted a fight between two men at 630 O’Brien Street.

Dillon, who was 34 years old, was a bachelor and lived with his mother, two sisters and three young children of his brother Andrew who died last April. Since the death of the brother, Dillon had been caring for his two nephews and niece.

A fellow officer shot and killed Patrolman Dillon's assailant.
