Patrolman Jerome de Lorenzo succumbed to a gunshot wound sustained seven days earlier in the Clinton Street Station dormitory.

Another patrolman's revolver was knocked off of a bed and when the patrolman tried to grab the revolver it discharged. Patrolman de Lorenzo was struck in the stomach. He was transported to Gouverneur Hospital where he remained until he died seven days later.

Patrolman de Lorenzo was assigned to the 4th Precinct and had served with the New York City Police Department for just over one year.
