James Days

Officer James Days died after suffering a heart attack during a foot pursuit.

Officer Days and his partner were on patrol when they saw an auto driving erratically in the 1300 block of East 50th Street.

They chased the auto to the 1300 block of East Madison Park Avenue when the driver fled on foot. Days pursued the driver and was found unconscious on a sidewalk a short distance away.

Officer James Days of the Prairie Avenue District died in Billings Hospital.

University of Chicago Police, who responded to the officers’ radio message for help, apprehended the offender.
