Officer Davis and his partner were on patrol traveling east bound on Georgia Highway 53 when a car approached them from behind at a high rate of speed and struck their patrol car in the rear. The patrol car was knocked into the westbound lane and was struck by a second car on the passenger side where Officer Davis was sitting. Officer Davis was killed in the accident. His partner was treated and released from the hospital.
Officer Davis had been with the agency for four years.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 41rst anniversary year of your death.

Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
