Gregory Lavance Davis

Officer Davis was shot and killed when he stopped a man on a bicycle to question him about a series of nighttime burglaries in the area. Unbeknownst to Officer Davis, the suspect was also the prime suspect in the murder of a woman three nights earlier. When the suspect pulled out a handgun gunshots were exchanged. Officer Davis shot and killed the suspect but was also shot in the chest and fatally wounded. At the time his agency did not issue bullet proof vests.
Officer Davis had been with the agency for seven years.
