Officer Roger Davies was killed in a motorcycle crash when another driver turned left in front of him on Front Avenue near the Oregon Journal Building (modern-day intersection of SW Yamhill Street and Pacific Highway).

Officer Davies had served with the Portland Police Bureau for eight years. He was survived by his wife and five children.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the fifty-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I pray for solace for all that love and remember you. Your family is in my heart's embrace today. .
