David Neal Wilson

Chief of Police David Wilson was shot and killed when he went to answer a call about a troubled man he had helped earlier in the day.

The suspect killed himself immediately after killing the chief.

Chief Wilson had served with the Payson Police Department for 14 years and had been in law enforcement for 30 years. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Mr. Wilson thank you so much for being there for me when my parents were not. You cared and had a deep respect for Cocopah and its students.
I especially thank you for bringing home my glass case that I made in woodshop when my stepfather refused. I want to apologize for holding up your funeral procession in my ole Power Wagon. I know it's been awhile but You are truly missed.
