Officer Charles Danowitz was accidentally shot and killed by two fellow officers who had mistaken him for a burglar in a dark waiting room of the Tioga Station of the Philadelphia and Reading Railway at 20th and Tioga Streets.
Policeman Danowitz had served with the agency for 9 months. He was survived by his wife and seven children.
