Tom G. Crabtree

Detective Crabtree was shot and killed after being confronted by a drunk 19-year-old man. He was en route to join a surveillance operation when the shooting took place.

The suspect was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 30 years in prison. He was paroled on February 1, 1930.

Detective Crabtree had been with the agency for nine years and was survived by his wife and four children.

It is amazing to see this and to see that law endorcement has played a part in our family. My youngest brother is retired from the Norfolk PD and was shot in the line of duty in 2007. Thank the Lord the result were not the same as our great-great uncle. It is with great pride that I have learned of Uncle Tom.
