Patrolman Kenneth Couch drowned while attempting to make a rescue in the Housatonic River.

He drowned after falling out of a boat during a search and rescue operation.

Patrolman Couch was a U.S. Army veteran of WWI and had served with the New Milford Police Department for 10 years. He was survived by his wife.
