Joseph G. Conroy

Officer Joseph Conroy was struck by a vehicle and killed while directing traffic away from a fire at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Geary Street in San Francisco.

The driver was acquitted of manslaughter.

Officer Conroy had served with the San Francisco Police Department for less than a year. He was survived by his wife, infant daughter, and five brothers. Three of his brothers also served with the San Francisco Police Department.
