Dalton B. Cawthray

Correctional Officer Dalton Cawthray was accidentally shot and killed while cleaning guns in the jail armory.

One of the guns was loaded and discharged, striking him in the chest. He was assigned to the Clemens Unit.

Officer Cawthray was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters and mother.

On today, the 40th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish t extend my deepest sympathy.
