Charles Henry Carter

Constable Charles Carter was killed in an automobile accident while pursuing two juvenile robbery suspects who had just committed a residential burglary.

Constable Carter was driving on Cavitt Stallman Road at 8:40 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed. He died later that night at Roseville District Hospital.

The suspect’s car crashed through a fence about ½ mile further down from Constable Carter's crash site and the suspects fled on foot. Two Sacramento boys, ages 15 and 16, were arrested later that month and admitted to the crime.

Constable Carter a U.S. Army WW I veteran who served five years with the sheriff's office. He was survived by his wife.
