Special Ageny Scott Carey was killed in a traffic accident in New Paltz, New York.

Special Agent Carey was an instructor assigned to the FBI driver training program. On May 9, 1988, while on duty instructing a defensive driving school at the Special Operations Center, New Paltz, New York, Special Agent Carey was the victim of a serious automobile accident. Special Agent Carey was taken to a Middletown, New York, hospital, where he died the following day as a result of injuries sustained during that accident.
