Patrolman Cannon was shot and killed while investigating a suspicious person in the area of Jackson Street and Roselane Street. He was shot and killed as he approached the suspect. The suspect surrendered to the Louisville Police two years later. He was tried for murder and acquitted.
Patrolman Cannon served with the Louisville Police Department for five years and was survived by his wife.
