David W. Campbell

Sergeant David Campbell was killed when his patrol car was struck head-on on the North Bypass at Stewart Street.

Sergeant Campbell and his partner, accompanied by a civilian ride-along, were rounding a curve in the road when the accident occurr. The vehicle burst into flames upon impact, causing severe burns to the occupants. Several witnesses to the accident stopped and, despite receiving burns themselves, pulled the officers from the burning vehicle.

Sergeant Campbell was survived by his wife, two stepchildren, three sisters and three brothers.
