Game Protector Lawrence Kessler was killed in a vehicle crash near the intersection of Broadway and Schwartz Road just outside of Lancaster.
He was completing his shift when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. He was partially ejected and pinned beneath his car for an hour before passing away.
Game Protector Kessler had served with the New York State Environmental Conservation Police for one year. He was survived by his parents and several siblings.
