Corrections Deputy II Rodrigo Delgado died from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19 while working at the Kearney Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility at 446 Alta Road in San Diego.

Corrections Deputy II Delgado had served with the San Diego County Probation Department for 19 years. He is survived by his wife and four children.

Beginning in early 2020, due to the requirements of their job, thousands of law enforcement officers and other first responders throughout the United States contracted COVID-19 during the worldwide pandemic. Hundreds of law enforcement officers died from medical complications as a result of contracting the virus while remaining on duty and interacting with the community.

My condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers of Deputy Delgado. I had the pleasure of working with Rodrigo at Kearny Mesa back in 2001-2004. He was always smiling and always willing to help. Rest In Peace.
