The Effects of COVID on Law Enforcement

Beginning in early 2020, thousands of law enforcement officers and other first responders throughout the country began to contract COVID-19 during the worldwide pandemic. Due to the nature of their job, law enforcement officers were required to work and interact with the community even as the majority of the country was self-quarantined. As a result, hundreds of officers died from COVID-related illnesses and other complications.

Corrections agencies, in particular, suffered tremendous losses due to the constant and close proximity between the corrections officers and large inmate populations. Since March 2020, ODMP has verified that over 900 law enforcement officers have died as the result of a confirmed or presumed exposure while on duty and continues to work with hundreds of other agencies that have suffered a COVID-related death.

Visit ODMP's COVID-19 memorial listing every officer who has died as a result of a confirmed or presumed exposure.

We have mourned and started celebrating, Noah's born again. He's been blessed by the hands of God. His story is amazing. His spirit is present. He's a blessing from God .

Noah suffered from an accidental drowning when he was 7 years old. I watched as my dad revived him, after 3-5 long minutes of CPR. He recovered well.

He was spared by God and given the chance to multiply. Noah Jr and Ava Wave-a.

Noah was diagnosed with prostate cancer 2020 following our fathers colon cancer diagnosis. The local community came together and helped us raise finances for both battles. It was marvelous and emotional at the same time.

Soon thereafter, Dad came home beating cancer and Noah fought through 2 stages of chemo and radiation. All while attending the infamous gym in Los Fresnos, where he made the best of friends any man could ask for. Noah battled chemo and radiation, and sciatic nerve damage at the same time.

He had the looks the stamina, the heart. Unfortunately his organs weren't strong enough to fight off Covid. Talk about kicking a man while he's down. That is Noah.
