Rodney L. Davis, Sr.

Detective Rodney Davis died from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty.

Detective Davis had served with the Waycross Police Department for 16 years and also served as a part-time officer with the Coastal Pines Technical College Police Department. He is survived by his mother, three daughters, three sons, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Beginning in early 2020, due to the requirements of their job, thousands of law enforcement officers and other first responders throughout the United States contracted COVID-19 during the worldwide pandemic. Hundreds of law enforcement officers died from medical complications as a result of contracting the virus while remaining on duty and interacting with the community.

Rodney, I think of you daily. Each time I walk to the second door in the office, I think of how you'd say "ima knock this cheap closet door off the wall". Thank you for " showing me the way" (as you called it) of being a detective.
