Airman First Class Leebernard Chavis was shot and killed by a sniper in Al-Wahdah, Baghdad, Iraq, while providing escort security and training to local police officers.
A1C Chavis was assigned to the 824th Security Forces Squadron. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart. He is survived by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and grandparents.
