Sergeant David Crumpler died from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19 during an exposure while on duty.

Sergeant Crumpler had served with the Henry County Police Department for 26 years. He is survived by his four children, grandchild, mother, and brother.

Beginning in early 2020, thousands of law enforcement officers and other first responders throughout the country contracted COVID-19 during the worldwide pandemic due to requirements of their job. Many of these first responders have died as a result of COVID-19, and continue to do so as the virus spreads across the United States.

I worked side by side with Sgt Crumpler on Day Watch North for several years until he retired. He was an officers officer who cared deeply about the troops on the shift. We honored him with a plaque with all of our names inscribed on it at a farewell retirement the shift hosted for him. He still watches over us. Rest my brother.
