Sergeant David Crumpler died from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19 during an exposure while on duty.

Sergeant Crumpler had served with the Henry County Police Department for 26 years. He is survived by his four children, grandchild, mother, and brother.

Beginning in early 2020, due to the requirements of their job, thousands of law enforcement officers and other first responders throughout the United States contracted COVID-19 during the worldwide pandemic. Hundreds of law enforcement officers died from medical complications as a result of contracting the virus while remaining on duty and interacting with the community.

Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. I miss you so much. You were meant to be an officer, and your care and respect for the people you protected was evident in everything you did. I was amazed at the outpouring of love and grace at your memorial service. Amazed, but not surprised. You were the most selfless person I ever knew. I'm glad others knew it too.
Your generous spirit lives on in your boys, and in my heart. Goodnight David.
