Sergeant Randall Sims died from complications after contracting COVID-19 during an outbreak among employees and inmates at the Havins Unit in Brownwood, Texas.

Sergeant Sims had served with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 27 years.

Beginning in early 2020, thousands of law enforcement officers and other first responders throughout the country contracted COVID-19 during the worldwide pandemic due to requirements of their job. Many of these first responders have died as a result of COVID-19, and continue to do so as the virus spreads across the United States.

Sadden by the loss of the LEO. We all lose so much when a Officer is taken from us. May God give the family and fellow officers they worked with Peace and Strength to carry on.
