William H. Monhollon

Deputy Sheriff William Monhollon was shot and killed while attempting to collect taxes.

He was attacked by a man and shot with a shotgun and then assaulted with an ax. The man was arrested for Deputy Monhollon's murder after fleeing to Louisiana. He was extradited back to Kentucky, convicted of murder, and sentenced to life in prison. He was pardoned by the governor in 1927.

Deputy Monhollon was a widower.
