Daniel Duane Hinton

Lieutenant Daniel Hinton suffered a fatal heart attack while participating in a defensive tactics training exercise at the Fort Myers Florida Highway Patrol Station.

He was transported to the Gulf Coast Medical Center where he passed away a short time later.

Lt. Hinton had served with the Florida Highway Patrol for 32 years and was assigned to the Criminal Interdiction Unit. He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

The Florida Highway Patrol will holding a Highway Memorial Dedication Ceremony for fallen Lieutenant Daniel Hinton on December 19, 2019 at 9:30 am at the Fort Myers Florida Highway Patrol Office, located at 10041 Daniels Parkway, Fort Myers. At the ceremony, a portion of Interstate 75, mile marker 130 to 133 in Lee County, will be dedicated in honor of Lt. Hinton's service and sacrifice. Family and friends are welcome to attend. RIP Brother.
