Samuel Marts

Patrolman Samuel Marts succumbed to injuries sustained on December 16th, 1929, when he fell on ice while clearing a crosswalk across the alley from the police station.

He was taken to the Falls City Hospital with a broken leg as a result of the fall. He initially showed signs of recovery, but experienced complications and died as a result on February 19th, 1930.

Patrolman Marts had served with the Falls City Police Department for 26 years and had previously served as chief for 12 years before stepping down and remaining in the department as a patrolman. He was survived by his wife, two sons, 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a third son.
