Samuel Marts

Chief of Police Samuel Marts succumbed to injuries sustained on December 16th, 1929, when he fell on ice while clearing a crosswalk across the alley from the police station.

He was taken to the Falls City Hospital after falling and breaking his leg. He initially showed signs of recovery, but experienced complications and died as a result on February 19th, 1930.

Chief Marts had served with the Falls City Police Department for 26 years and had served as chief for 12 years. He was survived by his wife, two sons, 11 grandchildren, and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by a third son.
