Special Deputy Sheriff Fountain Pendleton was shot and killed in a case of mistaken identity while he assisted with serving a breach of the peace warrant at a home approximately 15 miles from Greensburg.

He and another citizen had been deputized by the sheriff to assist with the warrant service.
